How It Works
This calculator estimates your net pay by subtracting federal income tax, state income tax, Social Security (6.2%), and Medicare (1.45%) from your gross pay. Federal tax uses 2024 tax brackets for single filers.
Note: This is an estimate. Actual take-home pay depends on W-4 allowances, pre-tax deductions (401k, health insurance), and other factors not included here.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my actual paycheck different?
Your actual paycheck may differ due to pre-tax deductions (401k, HSA, health insurance), additional withholdings, local taxes, or different W-4 configurations than our estimates.
What are FICA taxes?
FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act) includes Social Security (6.2% up to $168,600 in 2024) and Medicare (1.45%, plus 0.9% additional for high earners). Your employer matches these contributions.
