Frequently Asked Questions

What is aspect ratio?

Aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between width and height. A 16:9 ratio means for every 16 units of width, there are 9 units of height. It's important for ensuring images and videos display correctly without stretching or cropping.

Why does 16:9 look different than 1920×1080?

They're the same ratio! 1920÷1080 = 16÷9 = 1.778. The simplified ratio (16:9) describes the shape, while pixels (1920×1080) describe the actual size. A 3840×2160 (4K) display is also 16:9—just more pixels.

What ratio should I use for social media?

It depends on the platform. Instagram feed: 1:1 (square) or 4:5 (portrait). Stories: 9:16. YouTube: 16:9. Twitter: 16:9 or 1:1. Facebook: 1.91:1 for links, 1:1 or 4:5 for posts. Check each platform's current guidelines as they change.
